Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, professional leader to join our team as an Assistant Mortgage Manager. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of mortgage loan products and guidelines and understanding of legal requirements and government regulations involving mortgage lending and related functions. In addition, the person in this role is required to have strong leadership and development skills, and excellent organization and project management skills.
Responsibilities
- Departmental supervision and staff support including contributing to the development, implementation, and periodic review of mortgage policies, procedures and standards.
- Facilitating staff meetings and communicating updates regarding policy and procedural changes.
- Identifying training needs, conducting training sessions, and ensuring effective cross-training of personnel.
- Mortgage lending functions, including interviewing applicants, taking mortgage applications, and processing initial documentation; educating members on loan options, credit criteria, interest rates, and required documentation; reviewing appraisals and assessing loan risk; participating in loan decisioning and communicating approval or denial to members.
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and management, including supporting and collaborating with other departments.
- Keeping management informed of department activities, issues and trends.
Required Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of mortgage loan products and guidelines for both originating and servicing mortgage loans.
- Understanding of government regulations and legal requirements involving mortgage lending and related functions.
Education/Certification
- Associates degree in a business-related field or an equivalent combination of formal training and experience.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in mortgage lending.
- At least one to three years in a supervisory role.
- Experience with mortgage loan servicing preferred.
- Experience handling problem loans and loan workouts is ideal.
